Has it really been over a month?

I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted the cards I have made.

Here are a few I made for the swap I do with Tina.

I made this first one using the bird die from Tim Holtz bird cage die.

This sketch just screamed black and white to me and I knew what stamps I needed to use.

I'm never sure about the sketches with lots of cuts.
I usually use paper from a 6 by 6 paper pad with 2 pages
of each design.  So if I mess up I have to pick another paper
all together.  But this one came together rather easily.

When I saw this paper it said bee to me.

I have had the little Cowgirl stamp for sometime and never used it.
She could have been a little bigger for this card.

Lots of Swap Cards

I haven't been very good adding the cards I make for the swap I do with a friend.
Here are some that have been sent.

The next 2 are birthday cards since her birthday was May 16th.

Every 4 weeks we have a choice of a square card or a round card.
To me some sketches scream round and some square.

Last of Online Watercolor Class Cards

I have 3 more cards to show you that were homework for the Online Watercolor Class.

On the first one I used a homemade stencil.  I die cut the flower then watercolored it.

Yes, it bleed under the stencil a little but after all it's watercolors.

This next one is a Tim Holtz technique.

I used Distress Inks on this one.
I really like the bright colors.

The last one was a technique taught by a teenager.
She did a really good job.

I scored the watercolor paper then added Distress Ink.
I used Distress ink on the flower also.

I really enjoyed this class and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Online Watercolor Class - Watercoloring Stamped Images

Today I have another card from the Online Watercolor Class.

I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper and embossed with white embossing powder.
I put down some watercolor at the bottom of each flower and leaf.  Then pulled the color up with a mixture of water and Perfect Pearls.  You can't really see the shimmer from this picture but it's really there.  I know I'll be doing this technique again soon.

I'm going to use this card for my mother-in-law's birthday.  I hope she likes it.

The next class at Online Watercolor class was Watercoloring Stamping.

Here is my card.

I stamped the flowers and colored them with watercolors.
The background is also watercolor.
I had lots of fun doing this card.

Online Watercolor Class - Backgrounds

Here is another card with a watercolor background.

I first stamped the flowers and masked them before I watercolored the background.
I really like this effect and will do more.

Online Watercolor Class

I am taking an Online Watercolor class for the next couple of week.
I have been trying to follow along with the lessons.
The first lesson was backgrounds.
Here are 3 cards I made .

On the first card I used watercolors to make a background.
While it was still wet I put a stencil on top and let it air dry.
It gives a neat texture to the card.

On the second card I used Distress inks on an acrylic block.
While the ink was wet I splatter water then dried it with a heat tool.

For the last card, I clear embossed the background and colored it with watercolors.

I'm enjoying this class as I don't use watercolors very often.

Birthday Cards

Today I'd like to show you a couple of birthday cards I made.

The first one was made for a friend's 60th.

As you can see it was a flip it card.

The next card was for an other friend's 50th.
But don't tell anyone.  She didn't want us to know.

This is an according card.

Both of these cards were fun to make and I think they were liked.

Watercolor Class Pre-Homework

Next week a new online card class starts.
It's a watercolor class.
The instructors have posted some ideas to get us started.
Here is a card I made using an idea that was posted.

I first made the hello from paper I colored with distress stains.
I then used watercolors to make the plaid pattern.
A real easy card.
I think it's missing something but what?

Easter Cards

Today I have a couple of Easter cards.

The first one is a swap card.

The bunny is popped up.

This last card is one I made for a couple of friends.
It was real simple as I was running out of time to get them in the mail.

I'm a Winner!

Last week I was reading Tim Holtz blog post.  He said they had 11,000 views of his April tag but only 77 comments.  (I always try to make a comment.) He decided to do a surprise giveaway.  He posted 13 comments and those people were told to email Mario.  I usually don't read the comment because I never win.  This time I looked over the names and guess who was there?  ME!  I was so excited.  I sent Mario my address and last Thursday I received a box of goodies.

In the box was a shaded lilac Distress Marker, barn door Distress Paint, 8 bingo numbers, the Dot Matrix Texture Fade, the Gridlock Texture Fad and the Trellis Frameworks die.

I can't believe what a great surprise!

More Swap Cards

I have 3 weeks of cards I swap with my friend each week.

I don't know why the colors are off.  The card is more of a teal and the other paper really does match.

I like this one best.  My only problem was the round part was so small.  Again the pink is not a bright  in real life.

I really am not sure of this one.  I don't know if it's the paper or the sketch.

Sorry..no post last weekend

I'm sorry I didn't post anything last weekend.
I was getting ready to go to my ranch in south Texas.
I met one of my cousins and a friend there.
We went to Round Top.  They have an antique show there.
We shopped for 2 full days and didn't even come close to seeing everything.
But we had fun.

Here are a couple of birthday cards I made and have been received.

This first one I made for my nephew.
The white is embossed.

This next one was sent to another nephew's wife.
I don't know why the colors don't match the actual card.
The card was more pinky peach.

This last card I made for some friends as just because cards.

On Line Card Class Week 2

This is the last week of OnLineCard Class, Clean and Simple.
Here are 2 of the cards I made as homework.

For this card I first die cut the word hello.  I dug out all of my flowers and decided on the 5 you see.  I then match the colors from the flowers with copic markers.  I colored a small piece of vellum with strips from the copies.  The vellum was taped to the back of the card where the hello was cut.  I covered the back with a piece of white card stock.

This card was really easy.  I first stamped the flower with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then watercolored the flower.  After covering the flower, I spritzed the card with Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearls Mist.  I wanted larger drops so I took the spritzer top off and lightly taped the paper where I wanted the spots to be.  I stamped the word, then added embossing paste thru a stencil.  You really can't see all the texture on the card but it's there.

I really enjoyed this class.

Online Card Class Homework

I'm taking a card class from Online Card Classes.
I have taken several before.  This one is Clean & Simple One Layer Cards.
I don't usually do one layer cards as I like to use decorative papers.
I tried out a few of the techniques that are being taught.

The first card is Faux Layered Die Cuts.
I made this card with my nephew's birthday in mind.

I used the feather I cut from the front on the inside of the card.
I like this technique and will use it again.

The next technique is Masked Frames.

I like this one also.  I can see using it for a variety of cards.

Now, for the last I have, well, I really don't like it but maybe with another stamp I might.

I stamped the background stamp with Versamark ink and embossed with with clear embossing powder.  Then I colored the image with watercolors.  After it was dry I ironed off the embossing.  Again if I have used a different stamp I might like it better.

Thanks for visiting.
